Quality Specialist
• Soaps & Lotions Position Summary: Manage all aspects of quality of soap, lotion and other skin-care products. • Work in conjunction with the soap/lotion formulation team, dispensing system development team and the sourcing organization to assist in the selection and qualification of external suppliers of these products.
• Manage the quality assurance process during the scale-up of these products from development to production.
• Establish clear quality expectations for the external suppliers including testing and reporting requirements during start-up, ongoing production and supply-chain processes.
• Be well versed in the FDA regulatory requirements for these products and work with the product safety/compliance group to set expectations for the suppliers to meet all the safety & regulatory requirements for these products.
• Actively monitor supplier quality data and address any non-conformance. Work with the Sourcing team and Legal to incorporate all key quality expectations in supply contracts. Report any quality non-compliance and quantify any associated cost to GP.
• Be actively engaged with the customer service team for soap/lotion product complaints and work to rapidly resolve customer issues
• Identify and address any systemic soap/lotion quality issues.
• Assist with supplier quality audits (GMP audits) as appropriate and provide input towards putting together an overall ?quality score card• for each key supplier.
• Assist the Sourcing team for any supplier changes for existing products.
Education:
• Bachelor's or higher degree in chemistry, chemical engineer or similar field.
• Any additional Quality certification or Six Sigma training highly desirable. Basic Qualifications: 6 or more years experience with soap/lotion products.
• Any manufacturing or quality experience with these products is highly desirable.
Knowledge - Skills - Abilities:
• Knowledge of soap and lotion products, their properties & testing and their manufacture is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of quality methods & procedures including Statistical Process Control or Total Quality Management or Six Sigma methods is required.
• Any experience managing external supplier quality is desirable.
• Experience with soap/lotion dispensing systems is desirable
• Ability to work effectively on cross-functional teams co-located in different locations.
• Available to travel up to 40%, including occasional international travel. We are an EOE. M/F/D/V
