Your unique role with the company: Reporting to the Global Technical Development Manager within the Specialty Polymers Business Unit you will be located from a home office in Detroit, MI supporting all polymers from the company’s portfolio. You will support the Automotive segment in North America. You will be responsible for providing technical expertise to customers and the internal commercial teams, R&D, manufacturing, etc.
  • Work with directly customers in collaboration with Sales Development teams to identify application opportunities at our customers: provide guidance with polymer material selection and validation, tooling and processing assistance, metal to plastic conversion, as well as product design and simulation support.
  • Support customers in molding trials, interface with R&D labs for material and part evaluations (thermal, mechanical, rheology, microscopy, etc.).
  • Provide technical training both internal and external about polymers, applications and plastic processing assistance-Extrusion, injection Molding  Blow Molding etc....
  • Work directly with the companies CD/CAE team to develop and implement solutions for customer applications. Support design to reduce NVH (noise, vibration, harshness). 
What we are looking for in a Candidate:
  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering/Material Science/Chemical Engineering or equivalent gained from past experience working with polymers.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a technical role working with polymeric materials in, product design & simulation, application development, and material processing.
  • Experienced in polymer processing technologies: injection molding (mandatory), extrusion and possibly others (coatings, etc.).
  • Previous experience working with Auto OEM or suppliers
  • Specific experience in NVH design strongly desired
  • Ability to travel approximately 50%, mostly day trips.
