Our client is a global leader in the manufacture of a wide variety of paint and coatings formulations for both consumer and industrial use. They currently require an experienced Coatings Applications Engineer to manage a team of professionals who provide coatings applications assistance to industrial customers who use liquid coatings. This position will be based in their Minneapolis, MN R&D center. 

  • Manage a team of six Application Engineers who provide liquid coatings application assistance and technical support to industrial manufacturers who use the company's technology. 
  • Evaluate customer paint lines and propose products and solutions that are technically effective and satisfy customer quality standards and support the overall product strategy. 
  • Create and deliver customer training programs and training materials for internal audiences (Technical Service, Sales). 
  • Collaborate with other corporate functions like R&D, Engineering and Manufacturing to ensure that Application Engineers are up-to-date on the latest liquid industrial coatings technology. 
  • Share customer feedback and competitive information within the organization to support product development and modification to meet market needs. 
  • Become the subject matter expert for advanced level trouble shooting at customer sites. 
  • Hire, train, evaluate and supervise staff. 
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Operations Management or related discipline. 
  • Seven years of experience as a coatings Application Engineer in the industrial market. 
  • At least 3 years experience leading or managing a team. 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills. 
  • Ability to travel as much as 25% of the time.
