Responsibilities of the Environmental Manager, Food Manufacturing: 

This position is responsible for compliance with all Federal, State, and local Environmental Regulatory requirements including waste water operation, air quality compliance, bio solids program, hazardous waste, recycling, solid waste, potable water and oil handling programs for the designated plant operations.  The environmental complexity and resultant liabilities for the areas of responsibility of this associate include, but are not limited to:  an NPDES permit for Waste Water, a major air emissions facility, and size and complexity of all waste water operations combined
Specific duties include:
  • May supervise and manage general associates including hiring, training and developing associates to ensure production requirements, environmental regulation, and carbon foot print reduction goals are met at the lowest cost.
  • Provide timely, accurate and consistent reports.  These may include safety, production, human resources, administrative and the regulatory community
  • Control cost and assets to manage within established goals.
  • Share dotted-line responsibility to the Corporate Environmental Engineering Manager.  Provides notification of activities, spill releases and non-compliance in a timely manner.  May conduct (2) environmental audits of other facilities per year.
  • Adhere to all safety requirements including PPE, preventing and reporting unsafe acts and conditions.  Lockout Tag Out procedure and process safety management related matters.
Requirements for the Environmental Manager, Food Manufacturing:

Bachelor’s degree minimum in Engineering, Environmental Science or Biological Science plus 6 years related work experience is required.  In addition, successful candidate will have:
  • Waste water license to the degree required to operate waste water treatment facility within the complex 
  • Working knowledge of federal, state and local environmental regulations.
  • Ability to travel to remote facilities and/or offices for meetings.
