Field Service Engineer/ Applications Engineer

This is an exciting opportunity to apply expertise in water purification and ion exchange  as an employee in an established and well-funded company.   You'll act as a primary technical liaison providing technical support to new and existing customers.    You’ll have frequent interactions with the site chemists and product development team as you apply the company’s technical know-how to various customer scenarios.  There are plenty of career paths forward with this employer including production management, technical sales, or product management.
Anticipate about 25 to 40% travel (if you move to NJ) or up to 75% travel when including  travel to manufacturing site in NJ.   Travel expenses will be covered
Provide technical support to customers with system installation, operation, and training for applications in utilities including Condensate Polishing, Powdered System Operation, Ion Exchange and SEPTA installation.   Also, support the plant where they manufacture ion- exchange resins.
  • Provide technical support by phone, email, and on-site visits; troubleshoot Customer reported problems with existing installations.
  • Conduct field trials and review test data; assist with the installation/startup of new systems.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports on studies and activities, including technical reports to customers.
  • Maintain test systems and replace or repair components as necessary to assure that they are fully functional at all times.
  • Conduct experiments and collect data to support commercial development efforts.
  • Support internal production of resins and suggest improvements to the manufacturing processes. (This is a secondary role with initial priority given to field application support.)
  • Suggest improvements to increase the efficiency of internal procedures.
  • Review and understand all aspects of competitive products.
  • Expect about 30 to 40% travel; primarily travel in the USA with occasional international trips (80% of the customer base is located in North America) but there are some installation in Europe and Asia
Must have-
  • B.S. Chemical Engineering or Chemistry
    • B.S. otherEngineering if 10+ years ion-exchange application
  • 5+ years of Ion Exchange experience (preferably in Nuclear Utility Operations or Chemistry).
  • Knowledge of Filtration &Separation equipment and processes includingIon Exchangeand Boiler Water Chemistry
  • Understand common engineering drawings (P&ID) and knowledge of system controls, basic electrical wiring schematics and programming concepts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for maintaining positive relationships with customers; Detail oriented with strong follow through.
  • Ability to travel internationals (has a passport or can get a passport)
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the USA without restrictions.
Best to also have-
  • Experience with application specific to Nuclear Power generation or Navy Nuclear background
  • Experience with AutoCad or similar drawing software
