Position: Global Sales Manager, Plastics 

 
Company: Operating since 1950, our privately-owned, global mid-sized specialty chemical company develops and manufactures performance materials for plastics and other diverse industries.  These specialty additives are sold in over 100 countries to produce high performing, cost effective, and environmentally friendly products.  We produce over 400 products with 6 manufacturing facilities and sales offices in 15 countries. 
 
We are experiencing rapid growth and recently made a key strategic acquisition in anti-microbials. The plastic additives product line has doubled in sales volume within the last 2 years and continues to gain market share. A new state-of-the-art Science & Technology Center was just added in November of 2016 to their Global Headquarters in New Jersey. This includes technologically advanced Microbiology and Product Development Centers, Personal Care, Analytical Services, and Additives and Formulations laboratories.

Your unique role with the company: Reporting to the VP and General Manager, you will work from the Northern NJ office when not traveling globally. You will be responsible for meeting and exceeding sales volume quotas within the Plastics Additives Division, developing and implementing growth initiatives for diverse customers such as polymer compounders and plastic manufacturers, primarily in Flexible PVC, Polyurethanes, Polyolefins, TPO, TPE, Rubber, Silicones & Polyester.
 
  • Visit U.S. and international prospects and customers, including Europe, Asia Pacific and South America.
  • Lead and coordinate global sales efforts thru distributors, agents and sales personnel.
  • Lead training efforts of existing and new international distributors and agents
  • Work with Science and Technology to create a sustainable pipeline of new products to meet identified market trends.

What we are looking for in a Candidate:
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
  • Advanced degree preferred, especially Plastics Technology, Microbiology or MBA.
  • Minimum ten years of increasing sales experience with plastic additives/plastics processing (extrusion, calendaring, and coating)
  • Experience in sales of plastics additives (biocides/preservatives) is a strong preference.
  • Demonstrated history of successful specialty sales preferred, which includes a minimum of three years of successful sales management experience.
  • Ability to travel 50% with heavy international component
