Operations Director - Manufacturing/ Chemical/ Equipment/ Gas

Our Client is a Fortune 300 global manufacturer that produces, sells and distributes atmospheric, process and specialty gases. Their products, services and technologies bring efficiency and environmental benefits to a wide variety of industries, including aerospace, chemicals, food and beverage, electronics, energy, healthcare, manufacturing, metals and many others. 
They have an opening for a Director of Operations based in the Detroit area that will also include responsibility for off site plants and pipeline systems.

This critical management role has responsibility for directing, planning and leading operations in the areas of production, distribution and maintenance to ensure the required business objectives and strategies are met in a safe and environmentally compliant manner. 
 
The position will define the priorities, plans, and objectives for manufacturing operations and distribution for both the plant and multiple off site locations consisting of multiple units, distribution related assets, backup systems and auxiliary plant equipment.
 
The seasoned individual has expert knowledge of principles and practices within operations, and an understanding of business strategies and culture, and works to achieve results and drive performance on a plant, regional and national basis.


Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent.
  • 10+ years Operations experience working with chemicals, equipment or gases.
  • 3+ years Plant Management experience with P&L experience.
  • Union Management and Labor Contract experience a plus.
  • Experience with compliance to OSHA PSM and EPA RMP for covered processes.
  • Able to work with cross-functional teams including sales and customer service to maintain customer relationships and execute customer requests.
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma and Cost Reduction projects.
  • Experience working with long term Capital Expenditures plan
  • Must possess proven leadership, team building, and decision making skills.
  • Must be safety and process safety focused.
  • Must be reliability and efficiency focused and possess strong planning and execution skills.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to motivate and lead a diverse workforce to achieve desired results.
