One of the fastest growing manufacturers of plastic colorant and additive solutions for the plastics industry, known for producing high quality products and for providing excellent customer service and growing at a rate of 10% annually, opening additional facilities and adding production lines, has an opening for a Senior Technical Services Representative.

Reporting as per the organizational chart, the Senior Technical Services Representative will provide field support to clients and Company’s sales team by serving as a subject matter expert in the Company’s product and the polymer industry. The Senior Technical Services Representative plays a key role in product development and works closely with the Product Development team and is responsible for technical interface with major accounts serving as the key technical contact.

Follows all Health and Safety policies and procedures; wears all PPE while in the plant or laboratory and at customer sites. Attends scheduled safety training and promptly reports unsafe behaviors to the department manager or EHS Specialist.  Provides technical support to customers and sales team by responding in a timely manner to inquiries on product information and capabilities. Responsible for solving technical problems by devising solutions to implement at customer locations based on previous customer feedback or requests.  Responds to customer complaints, isolates problems and reports results to Sales, customers and/or product development.  Mentors Technical Services staff members on specific key account assignments.  Maintains proficiency in the latest laboratory and application testing and analysis through periodic staff training sessions.  Provides technical training to Technical Services staff members and customers.  Maintains Company’s industry presence by representing the Company at industry conferences & trade shows. Develops and conducts customer presentations, web seminar and writes articles for publications, etc.  Produces call reports and monthly summaries of active projects, updates as required and distributes.  Recognizes the customer’s needs and recommends or design products to meet those needs.

Works with R&D, technical services and product development; quality assurance, production, purchasing, sales, management teams and external customers. Communicates with all at a level that may require considerable effort in explanation; persuasion, diplomacy and tact.

REQUIRED: 
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering; Polymer Science, Chemistry or related technical curriculum.  5 years of progressive technical experience in the plastics industry.  5 years’ work experience as a field support representative to customers and sales staff.  Extensive knowledge of color, plastics and compounding processing technology. 
  • Experience at a polymer processing, material development or compounding company
  • Knowledge of colorants, plastics, compounding and application knowledge in at least one of the following: blow molding, injection molding, film/sheet extrusion
  • Ability to work independently and provide excellent customer service
Effective presentation skills using a variety of facilitation methods. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Excellent problem solving and organizational skills. Computer proficiency: Intermediate level in Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Basic level in Access.
