Job Description
As a key team member,  the Senior Production Engineer will serve as the  technical expert for a specific Unit.  This role will have accountability to drive the process improvement and optimization efforts  in the areas of throughput,  energy and raw material usages.  In addition, the candidate will support to the Technology pipeline by serving as a conduit between Manufacturing and other groups in this matrix-structured organization.   This position interacts  with Business Leadership, Sales & Marketing, Technology & Engineering, Procurement & Logistics, EHS, Finance and the  IT group.
  • Develop a collaborative working relationship with Site Leadership and the Manufacturing organization.
  • Lead  process optimization and improvements in process safety and reliability; Utilize Six Sigma and Operational Excellence principles to improve and optimize  operations ( capacity, yields, energy, safety, and quality)
  • Works closely with Manufacturing and as needed, challenge decisions to ensure  that  processes are run within the appropriate technical envelope
  • Works closely with Project Engineering  to support  performance and business goal; Support the capital plan as a subject matter expert.
  • Works with Operations, Maintenance, and Reliability professionals to improve the reliability of the process unit
  • Actively supports the site & area safety programs via team participation in PHAs, LOPAs, MOC, PSM, incident investigations and resolution of action items to ensure safe operation and regulatory compliance.
  • Support testing and implementing of new Technologies; support the technology programs
  • Leverage process and equipment design skills in troubleshooting efforts
  • Provides technical advice to all members of the  team.

Requested applicant  background profile:
  • B.S. Chemical Engineer,  prefer M.S. Chemical Engineering.  Best with a  Six Sigma Green Belt
  • 10+ years’ experience in the Petrochemical industry or continuous chemical manufacturing plants  with a strong EHS awareness  and knowledge of PSM.
  • Broad experience in various unit operations  (like reaction, extraction, stripping, distillation, pumping and etc) and proficiency with process simulators (like  Aspen, Arrow, Fathom).
  • Desired applicant characteristics include:  Proactive leadership, team-building skills , works effectively throughout the organization in a fast paced environment; Comfortable working in a matrix-structured reporting organization; decision making using data driven logic (i.e. Six Sigma);   puts forth  creative solutions.
  • Must be authorized to work in the USA without restriction (no time limits for working in the USA and no future career  restriction in the USA)
  • Additional, good-to-have, desired but to required:
    • Root cause analytical and corrective action plans
    • Process design
    • Equipment specification and design
