Plant Engineer

What you will need for this position:

~ BS in Mechanical Engineering
~ 5+ years of Plant Engineer experience, preference given to those who are experienced in the chemical industry
~ Registered as a Professional Engineer is a plus
~ Experience as a Maintenance Manager
~ Experience with DeltaV process control systems
~ Experience with Mass Energy Balance
~ Aspenplus Software - conducts simulation studies on Mass Energy Balance
~ Be hands on and have worked in a process manufacturing plant
~ Leadership, communication and team work skills
~ Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local building codes.
~ Work requires advanced math skills, special relationship abilities, and the ability to understand abstract principles.
~ Working knowledge of CAD tools.
~ Knowledge of Office software (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, PMC)
~ General familiarity with process plant operations and equipment
~ Capital project management
~ HAZOP and PHA facilitation
~ Understanding of the Management of Change process
~ Project estimation experience
~ Ability to diagnose equipment breakdowns, design maintenance strategies, procedures, and methods
~ Active Listening - giving full attention to what others are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, and asking questions as appropriate
~ Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
~ Communication - must be able to provide information to maintenance staff, coworkers, supervisors, and managers via all communication methods with ease.

What you will be doing:

~ Focus of this position is project management and infrastructure improvements
~ Responsible for work orders and ordering parts etc, we use PMC 2000
~ Manage preventative maintenance program
~ Responsible for management of change (MOC) will be champion of the process safety management process
~Responsible for all plant drawings
~ Responsible for specifications and design of plant facilities and equipment for the plant that will achieve the desired result in the most cost efficient manner without neglecting the environment, safety, quality, and long-term profitability.
~ Analyze and plan maintenance work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, and design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency. ~ Confer with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
~ Provide technical advice on plant operations and improvements.
~ Prepare engineering analysis of projects that include preliminary design, calculation, and life cycle cost and equipment selection.
~ Accountable for all plant assets, responsible for controlling, tracking and reporting spending of the capital budget and the maintenance budget.
~ Management Representative for the PSM (Process Safety Management) program and is responsible for its implementation and maintenance.
~ Manage Maintenance Department - Recruit employees; assign, direct, and evaluate their work. Assure all KPI's are met consistently. Oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence. Lead by example by being involved in plant CAPTAINS process and or the Joint Health and Safety Committee. Ensure maintenance employees stay engaged in all plant safety systems, processes, and initiatives. Dispatch all repairs, employee workload, manage the work order system, and spare parts inventory. Member of the emergency response team. Provide engineering support to maintain, alter, or curtail operations during emergencies. Actively maintain equipment performance statistics including mean time between failures and creating, managing, and implementing preventative and predictive maintenance plans.
~ Maintain Mechanical Integrity files for PSM requirements under PSM support of the MOC process. Input on Safety Modifications to the plant systems. Develop and maintain critical plant drawings including P&ID's
~ Analyze technology, resource needs, and market demand to plan and assess the feasibility and equipment. Accept ownership of all automation initiatives. Prepare capital Investment Requests by determining the best equipment design and/or facility layout, developing estimates), and providing justification for the expenditure.
~ Insure capital projects are supported by alternate written pricing from vendors where possible. Upon project approval, purchase materials, equipment, and services as provided by the Investment Request. Ensure the projects are implemented according to the specification in a safe and timely manner with minimum disruption to plant activities and housekeeping.
~ Consult with other departments and train affected personnel, or their representatives, in the basic operation, theory, maintenance, and effect of new installations. Assist the Production Superintendent on matters concerning process equipment that affect production.
~ Maintain adequate project documentation, drawings, equipment, and vendor files for reference.
~ Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, attend daily, weekly, and monthly meetings, responsible for entering daily information into the plant Scorecard and DWOR, approving expenditures, enforcing rules, and making decisions about purchase of materials or services
~ Occasional travel
~ Be on-call on a frequent basis
