Sr. Scientist - In-Vitro Diagnostic Medical Devices - Tucson

Responsibilities:

* Initiate, direct and execute scientific research, development and manufacturing process strategies to support new and existing products.
* Investigate the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions, products and problems.
* Conceive, plan, design and conduct advanced independent research in compound, assay, process, product or method development.
* Create potentially patentable components for systems, reagents or processes.
* Plan and execute laboratory research.
* Maintain broad knowledge of state-of-the art principles and theories.
* Make contributions to scientific literature and conferences.
* Serve as an in-house and outside consultant.
* Act as a spokesperson for corporate scientific affairs and advise top management.
* Participate in development of patent applications.
* Promote and participate in the professional development of scientists and laboratory facilities.
* Use professional concepts to contribute to the development of product or process principles and to achieve objectives in creative and effective ways.
* Contribute to the definition and timely achievement of overall project goals.
* Participate or lead cross functional technical teams such as a failure investigation or core team. Establish interfaces across other organizational groups.
* Participate in project planning, process updates and contributes to experimental design.
* Prepare and deliver presentations of project results to others; present data to larger and more diverse audiences.

Requirements:

* Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry or biochemical engineering with 2+ years of relevant experience or Masters degree with 5+ years relevant experience.
* Experience in antibody production in bioreactors, bioseparation processes including affinity purification, scale up of these separation processes, and manufacture of bioconjugates at commercial scale in diagnostics or biopharmaceutical industry.
* Hands-on troubleshooting experience.
* Expert knowledge of scientific principles and concepts.
